Enlighten Electric has included this page to help inform potential clients about renewable and energy upgrade incentives and tax breaks. We would also like to help those who are interested to become more educated about these topics. Remember with proper knowledge you will be a force to be reckoned with. There many contractors out there dabbling in renewables and energy upgrades but few who have really taken the time to learn how to help their clients get the most for the dollars spent in these areas. There is nothing more frustrating then to spend big money on a solar array or upgrading all the lighting to LEDs in your building only to find out it falls way short of expectations. So please take the time to learn about it before you speak with a contractor, that way you will be able to ask questions that will help you determine if you want to do business with a particular company or not. Don’t be victim to the old ‘hard sell’ be sure that the one that you pick has a list of satisfied clients in the area you’re hiring them for or can show proof of higher education from some type of nationally recognized organization in that area. You are going to spend a lot of money, don’t be afraid to ask, maybe even go look at some completed projects if you can.
Here are some websites you can check out to learn about incentives etc:
Others you can check for learning purposes are:
www.ases.org, and gosolarcalifornia.org are great ones as well.
Here are some new one’s that we are following on twitter:
www.grist.org, @grist,
www.renewableenergyjobs.com, @ReEnergyJobs
and of course here’s a shameless plug: @EnlightenE at twitter
Of course you can always do your own research to find out even more. Good luck and keep thinking green and independent.
I also want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication to the members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee who work tirelessly to ensure that Electricians understand the theory behind, are properly trained and use safe work practices in the design, installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems and energy saving upgrades. Without which this webpage and/or much of its contents would most likely not exist.
